Detective: Comics

I have been captive and liberator.

I have been both replacement and mainstay.

I have been a prince and a pauper.

I am here and yet I am "no more..."

WHO AM I?

  1. My initial thought was Mar-Vell.

    Maybe Hawkman.

  3. Could it be Pietro Maximoff, aka: Quicksilver?

I confess I don't get the "captive" and "liberator" clues, but...

He was one of Cap's Kooky Quartet, the original "replacement" Avengers, then became one of the team's longest-serving members.

He was a "prince" for several reasons: his father, Magneto, once lead the nation of Genosha, and, in the "House of M" world, planet Earth; and he was married to Crystal of the Inhumans, sister to Queen Medusa of her people. I believe after the end of House of M, he became a vagrant "pauper."

He's still in the Marvel U, but he is one affected by the Scarlet Witch's decree of "No more mutants."

I know which part you're getting hung up on, don't get hung on there.

  5. This is driving me nuts! My current line of thinking is that it's a de-powered male mutant... probably a hero not a villain... there just aren't that many that come to mind.

  6. Alex Summers?

    of course not. It's Namor.

    You got it!

    It's Scarlet Witch!

She's been held captive more times than I can remember and has been a member of The Lady Liberators.

She was part of "Cap's Kooky Quartet," who replaced Iron Man, Thor, Hank Pym and The Wasp. Eventually, she went on to become an Aengers mainstay.

Loki, Prince of Asgard, recently impersonated her and she is descended from a poor woman and nearly went hungry after her mother was killed.

She's recently returned from Limbo and her most famous
    line is, "No more... Mutants."
