I wonder if it was the editorial switch which changed the series focus...?KENT!https://www.blogger.com/profile/00182281723355828663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2760242555416345702.post-15454542357203545172009-06-16T07:06:06.057-07:002009-06-16T07:06:06.057-07:00I liked Hawkworld. Hawkworld was the last time I liked the Hawkman franchise, I think (in comics, Hawkgirl on JLU not withstanding).

The late reboot did cause continuity headaches, but I've tended to explain it as "Crisis heaves", reality not aligning completely for a few years (in DC time, no more than a few months, probably).Siskoidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08266365376486695812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2760242555416345702.post-60279025180556517962009-06-14T14:03:49.409-07:002009-06-14T14:03:49.409-07:00As big a Hawkman fan as I am, this is the one aspe...As big a Hawkman fan as I am, this is the one aspect of Hawkman I've always sorta rejected.Devon Sandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08223057696498728357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2760242555416345702.post-91102589707836053282009-06-13T22:58:55.467-07:002009-06-13T22:58:55.467-07:00I don't think there's any hard and fast ru...I don't think there's any hard and fast rule about reboots and continuity. Different characters and books have different needs. Rebooting worked for Hawkworld. It worked for Man of Steel. It worked for the Ultimate books.

Then you have The Legion of Super-Heroes, where every reboot has failed because DC can never settle on a version. Or The Warlord reboot from a couple of years ago, which was both unnecessary and inferior to the original.

Basically, it seems to come down to a balancing act between the needs of the characters and the risk of alienating readers through constant revisions.Scotushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15722727764493748172noreply@blogger.com
